Belgian-Style Specialty Ale

All About Beer Magazine - Volume 29, Issue 6
January 1, 2009
Chad Wulff

94 Signature Ale, De Proef Brouwerij (Belgium). 8.5% ABV (8/07)
Lightly hazy pale amber color. Grilled citrus, fruit caramel and tapioca aromas are inviting. A rich, frothy entry leads to a fruity full body of grilled citrus, toffee, sea salt and delicate spice. Finishes with an endless, evolving fade of citrus (tangerine, kiwi, grapefruit), nut and honey flavors. Remarkable!

93 Redbach, Rodenbach Brewery (Belgium). 3.7% ABV (9/06)
Beautiful deep blood red mahogany color. Sweet cherry pulp and spicy honey aromas. A rich fruity entry leads to a sweet, tart, full-bodied palate with vibrant sour cherry and citrus marmalade flavors. Finishes with a long cherry and herbal honey fade. Remarkably fresh and fruity.
