A beer with a pale bronze color and a powerful and inviting aroma of ripe tropical fruits, perfumy hops, fresh tobacco and cookie-like malt. Perfumy hops, rich bittersweet fruits and biscuit malt dominate the palate. The hops turn bitter in the finish with mellow fruit and rich biscuit malt. This is very much a modern American interpretation of IPA.
- Roger Protz
The beer’s color is deep gold leaning toward amber, but that’s not the first thing you notice. The hop aroma somersaults out of the glass, a weedy mélange of garlic, cut grass and citrus peel with a tinge of cheddar. The hop attack is modest and finely tuned, and there’s not much malt flavor to speak of—this beer is extra dry. But it is well structured in a steely sort of way, and the mineral finish gives it good drinkability. It’ll do very nicely with spicy shrimp pad Thai.
