Say the words and eyes go wide. Bourbon County. The annual barrel-aged ale releases from the Goose Island Beer Co. are the stuff of dreams for collectors, aficionados and those who enjoy a healthy dose of additional booze in their beer. Released to the general public on Black Friday, where there was once just one kind—a stout aged in bourbon barrels—there are now several varieties. Follow the links below to see tasting notes on some of the beers.

If you don’t have it by now you’re not likely to get it. In Iowa it was distributed on Black Friday and very likely sold out in three hours. YOu might be able to get some if you live near Chicago.

I was fortunate enough to get to a ration event at Spec’s in Ft Worth. Got 2 bottles of the Coffee Stout and a 4-pk of the 2014 Bourbon County Stout. I’ll probably open one of the Coffee bottles on Christmas and save the other for next Christmas.
