The beer is made with lunar meteorites that have been crushed into dust, then steeped like tea in a rich, malty Oktoberfest. These certified moon jewels are made up primarily of minerals and salts, helping the yeast-induced fermentation process and lending this traditional German style a subtle but complex earthiness. (Or is it mooniness?)

The Dogfish Inn will open in downtown Lewes, at what is now the Vesuvio Motel. The location is a halfway point between Dogfish Head’s brewpub and distillery in Rehoboth Beach and its production brewery in Milton.

“We’ve already got great excitement from the Department of Tourism, Delaware Economic Development Office and the Governor’s Office for this project,” says Dogfish Founder and President Sam Calagione. “And we’re excited to work with the local agencies as well because we’re very confident that this motel will bring a lot more business not just to Dogfish but to the other local retailers and restaurateurs in Delaware.”

Two years after scaling back distribution from those states, Dogfish Head will begin hunting for distribution partners and regional sales managers in those four states. “We’re hoping to be back into those four states before the end of 2013,” founder Sam Calagione said in a video posted to the brewery’s YouTube channel.
