West coast IPA seems like another name for a double IPA. Lovely bright copper pour topped with a dense, multi-layered head leaves a contrasting tan lace pattern on the glass as it slowly dissipates. Fine floral nose is pleasantly powerful, hinting at what’s to come; hops, hops and more hops. Good strong beer with humulus lupulus taking center stage, and malt playing a minor, yet important, role. The hops tend to overpower all but the most flavorful and spicy foods. We enjoyed it with “You can’t make it too hot for me” chili, cornbread and fresh persimmons.

Pure poetry. Crystalline amber beneath a slow and gentle frothing. Powerful hop aromas swirl elegantly without compromise. This beer breeds spiritual nourishment. Complex dose of varietal hops, suggests beer Umami. Pow, zap, wham, bang, wopwop and ding ding. It all combines to a harmonious hunka hunka burning love. I might hopothesize: my delirious palate has become dignified in the experiential enjoyment of WCIPA. I see green flashes on the horizon. You might too with this exceptionally classic American IPA.
