Old Court Ale is a pale ale with amber malt added to create a dark pale ale style, with hops and malt balanced to create a nice, bold sessionable brew. 16 Mile uses all English malts to pay homage to our passion for English-style ales, but with an American twist to make them our own.

This is a beer that commemorates events in the back end of the 18th century. It’s a pale bronze color with a dense head of foam, followed by sultana and raisin fruit on the nose with a “malt loaf” grain character and peppery hop notes. Bitter hops kick in in the mouth with rich, burnt fruit and chewy malt. The finish is dry with a creamy malt character balanced by peppery hops and ripe fruit.

Bright amber with solid golden foam, this beer shows a curious lack of fruit in the aroma, given that it’s an ale. The faint note of oranges seems hop-derived. The palate is very straightforward—moderate sweetness, a slight tang of caramel, linear moderate hopping, a lingering bitter finish. It’s pleasant enough, but unassertive, and I can’t help feeling that there’s something missing in the center. Let it warm up a little and it will show you a bit more, an earthiness that will work nicely with fish ‘n’ chips.
