A burst of bright, citrusy aromas leaps out of this hazy, golden-hued brew as it’s being poured into the glass. The citrus blast is followed by resinous notes, hints of tropical fruit and a thread of sweet caramel. The flavors follow suit, with some of the sweeter tropical fruits taking the lead until grapefruit and pine sneak in near the end. Those are the flavors that linger after the sip, but they are never cloying or too overpowering, and just a kiss of caramel keeps things in check. Clean, crisp and ridiculously—maybe even dangerously—drinkable.
- Lisa Morrison
Flip off the cap, sit back and let those hop resins burst out of the bottle. The aroma of this deep golden beer is deep and inviting, zinging with juicy grapefruit, passion fruit and sappy cedar. Hops—bouncing with orange and grapefruit notes—then drive onto the palate, almost burning the tastebuds, before layering the dry, tangy, robust finish with more oranges and cedar. Supportive sweetness from the malt ensures that the hops never cloy and that the product, while chunky, is always quaffable. All you’d expect from a U.S. IPA, delivered with Odell’s customary class and reliability.
