As pretty as a penny, and the same color; the nose is delightfully aromatic—a bouquet in a bottle. Any way you pour it, this is a powerful beer with intense hoppy bitterness that at first shocks the palate, but balanced with plenty of malty backbone. Accompanied with flavorful foods like Indonesian nasi goreng, Sichuan Hot Pot, or Hatch chili rellenos, it’s an elixir, better than any wine with these and other spicy dishes.
- Charles Finkel
Huge English-style fruity aroma blasts out before you even note clarity and suds. A hint of banana defines part of the fruity spectrum. Full-bodied with a rich unexpected assertive hop bitterness. Ballsy malt character underpins the flavor. Leviathan implies big and huge. It takes a sip, but then there’s no doubt about its character. An enjoyable sipping (what I would call) supercharged English-style IPA. Ride the hops. Face the monster.
