Mavericks Brewing Launches Tunnel Vision IPA During SF Beer Week

By Staff - January 26, 2015

(Press Release)

HALF MOON BAY, CA—Mavericks Brewing, an independent craft brewing company devoted to creating innovative American craft beer in cans, is launching the fourth beer in its portfolio this month in Northern California. The initial three beers in the Mavericks product lineup all provided full-flavored craft beer drinking experiences, but with an alcohol level of just 3.75%. The new Tunnel Vision IPA is the team’s first non-session beer at 6.8% abv and over 100 IBUs. Just in time for SF Beer Week, the Tunnel Vision IPA will make its official debut at the 2nd Annual West Coast Can Invitational on Saturday, February 7, at Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company in San Carlos.

The Mavericks Tunnel Vision IPA is made from a combination of hops including Columbus, Chinook and Crystal. A strong, dry ale that blurs the line between a single and double IPA, the Tunnel Vision is being distributed in four-packs of 16 oz. cans and in both 1/2 barrel and 1/6 barrel kegs to Cost Plus World Markets, Toronado Pub in San Francisco, Barclay’s in the East Bay, and many other retail and on-premise accounts in Northern California.

Mavericks Brewing takes its name from the legendary big wave surf spot which is located directly offshore from its host brewery, the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, and is widely considered to be the most exclusive and daring in the world. Head Brewer Shane Aldrich leads the Mavericks Brewing team, with assistance from James Costa, Brewmaster at Half Moon Bay Brewing Company. With a combined total of more than 30 years of hands-on brewing experience at such legendary companies as Bear Republic (Racer 5 IPA), Moylan’s (Kilt Lifter Ale), and Lagunitas (Lagunitas IPA), this brewing duo bring their incredible knowledge, history of creating award-winning beers, and deep passion for innovation to Mavericks Brewing.

“We are extremely excited to unveil the Tunnel Vision IPA in cans, just in time for SF Beer Week,” said CEO Steve Morgan. “It started as a special Half Moon Bay Brewing Company release to celebrate the opening of the tunnels at Devil’s Slide on Highway 1,” he continued. “It immediately sold out, and we’ve had people asking for more ever since.”

Hosted in association with The Can Van, the 2nd Annual West Coast Craft Can Invitational is a benefit for the Pink Boots Society and the Peninsula Sunrise Rotary Club. Taking place Saturday, February 7, from 2 – 5 p.m. at the 10,000 square foot Devil’s Canyon Brewery event center in San Carlos, the event is open to the public and guests will be able to sample beers from many of the Bay Area’s best craft breweries while enjoying live music and food trucks. Some of the breweries confirmed for the Craft Can Invitational include Anchor Brewing Co., Track 7 Brewing Co., 21st Amendment Brewery, Pine Street Brewery, Uncommon Brewers, Santa Cruz Ale Works, Seabright Brewery, Pine Street Brewery, Ruhstaller and more.

Tickets are $40 in advance, $45 at the door and includes a commemorative glass and unlimited 4oz pours. Designated Drivers / Under 21: Tickets are $15 and includes a commemorative glass and bottomless Root Beers. Well-behaved pets are admitted free. Tickets are non-refundable. Rain or Shine. Tickets may be purchased at https://squareup.com/market/DevilsCanyon/canfest-general-admin. ABOUT MAVERICKS BREWING
