SweetWater to Release Belgian Tripel for 18th Anniversary

By Staff - February 18, 2015

(Press Release)

ATLANTA—SweetWater Brewery is all grown up! Turning 18 on February 17, the Southeast’s largest brewery is celebrating another year older, wiser and just a little bit rounder.

There ain’t nothing small about turning 18 so SweetWater’s birthday celebration will be bigger than ever this year! The brewery will be filled up with classics from the cellar, specialty casks, a souvenir anniversary pint glass, food trucks and a great show on the patio stage from The Revivalists! The draft list will feature previous anniversary ales, Wooden Cactus, Ghoulash, Some Strange, Bourbon Barrel Aged Festive and Chocolate Bourbon Barrel Aged Happy Ending as well as casks of Happy Ending, IPA, 420 and Take Two Pils.

Even sweeter, the brewery and the good folks from United Distributors will present The Giving Kitchen with a giant check representing the Second Helping fundraising done in the last month. Guests of the sold-out event are invited to join in the celebration from 2-6 p.m. for the souvenir glass with a portion of each glass sale goes directly to The Giving Kitchen.

Saving the best for last, SweetWater is classing it up for this year’s anniversary! The brewhouse stepped up their game with a Belgian Tripel, featuring 2-Row, Pilsner and wheat malts; Saaz, Sterling and Amarillo hops and Ardennes yeast for fermenting, leading with complex aromas that are complimented by a strong undertow of spicy hop character. A balanced sipper, the 18th Anniversary Ale comes out with a sneaky ABV just under 10 percent.   The anniversary ale will christen SweetWater’s gift to itself for turning 18 – a shiny new 750 ML cork and cage bottling line!

“Our take on a Belgian Tripel offers an easy, refreshing ale with a crisp yet dry finish and a gorgeous golden straw color,” said SweetWater Head Brewer Nick Nock. “Fermented with a strong Belgian yeast with contributes a slight spicy clove flavor and a hops bill that balances out with a citrus finish and aroma, this is the perfect ale to share with friends, family and fans as we celebrate 18 amazing years as SweetWater Brew!”

The celebratory ale is currently making a limited run on taps across the Southeast. The brew will also be found in cold boxes in SweetWater’s new cork and cage 750mL packaging in limited release later this month.
