Cola Craft Beer Week returns Feb. 11-19

COLUMBIA, S.C.—Yes, it is Columbia Craft Beer Week, full of delightful, not so serious beer times. Local businesses have created events to feature a craft beer and a fun activity all for you and your crafty friends running Feb. 11-19, 2017.

Leading off the week, February 11, 11-4 p.m., is the Smoke and Beer Festival at City Roots,the perfect venue for creative chefs to cook with craft beer and serve regional brews to enhance the experience. Smoke and Beer has great food, craft beer and music all for $15 admission and a cash bar. Tickets available here. Tickets are limited so buy your tickets now and help vote for the beer and food pairing champ.

Also, February 11 at 7:00 pm,  is the “Beards and Beer” event at Tin Roof, a contest for the longest, most unique and best groomed beard, featuring Charleston’s own Palmetto Brewery. Sign up for the contest on Facebook @TinRoofColumbia. Prizes and bragging rights awarded to the winners.

Sunday, February 12, Clint Eastwood stars in Fistful of Dollars at the Nickelodeon starting at 11:30 a.m., with  Sweet Josie,  Shotgun Betty and Hoppy Ki Yay all from the Raleigh Brewery, Lonerider. Cowboy heaven.

Tuesday, February 14, features “Two to Taco” at The Whig, one extra special edition of Taco Tuesday in celebration of Valentine’s Day and Columbia Craft Beer Week. Sugar Creek Brewing will be the Valentine’s special. One bearded cupid is scheduled for an appearance.

Wednesday, February 15, The Kraken, a local pub and Columbia’s own microbrewery, Swamp Cabbage, will host a three-course beer dinner.

Thursday, February 16, is the Conquest Bike Ride, just $25 per person, The ride starts at Conquest, stops at Moriarty’s, Main Street Public House, Craft and Draft and Cock n Bull, ending back at Conquest. Last year’s ride was a huge success with over twenty five riders.

Friday, February 17, meet your local craft brewer at Total Wine at 6:30 p.m., featuring Brian Shanks, the New Zealand native responsible for creating Bold Rock Hard Cider. Admission is $10.

Friday, February 17 is Nesting Day at Thirsty Fellow from 2-4 p.m. “Every Goose gets a mate” sponsored by Goose Island Brewery.  Valentine’s isn’t the only day to have a special friend with you.
