And in the case of LSU, the market is probably the entire state. But a macro view of the big picture would make me ask if this is really the right thing to do. With many college campuses having a serious drinking problem, do universities want to send the message that they are in the alcohol distribution business? I know most schools are trying to curtail the alcohol problem. In fact, in 2010, Penn State refused to renew licensing for shot glasses. I think LSU should consider being a little more responsible. From a business standpoint, brewing a collegiate branded beer is a home run…You have an instant market in the fan base. And in the case of LSU, the market is probably the entire state.
